    The YMCA Bennett Preschool staff believes that the parents are the primary educators of the child; teachers act as partners in carrying out the development and education of the child in a manner that is appropriate to their needs. We believe children learn and develop best through play; based on this initiative, we have developed a program providing structure through both child and teacher initiated activities in a Christian atmosphere. Children are given the opportunity to manipulate concrete materials, increasing the child’s learning and developmental experience.  Teachers acts as active facilitators, building on the child’s interests with a special emphasis on outdoor experiences in addition to art, music, math, pre-reading, pre-writing, and pretend play.   We have also incorporated health, safety, nutrition, and character development into the curriculum. The Christian values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith are a part of the learning experience. These values, which are an integral part of the YMCA of the Rockies mission, are modeled through our actions and conversations.

The Bennett Preschool serves both local children and families of our staff from ages 2 1/2 to 5 years.
